About CMA

The CMA is a globally recognized professional certification focused on management accounting, financial planning, analysis, control, decision support, and professional ethics.

The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a globally recognized professional certification designed for finance and accounting professionals who aim to move beyond traditional accounting into strategic management and leadership roles.

Unlike certifications that focus mainly on external reporting or auditing, the CMA emphasizes management accounting, financial planning, performance management, decision-making, and business strategy. CMA holders play a critical role in helping organizations plan, analyze, control costs, manage risks, and drive sustainable growth.

The certification is awarded by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), a leading global professional body established in 1919 in the United States. Since its launch in 1972, the CMA has become one of the most respected credentials for professionals working in corporate finance, manufacturing, services, technology, and multinational organizations.

Today, the CMA is recognized in over 150 countries and held by more than 100,000 professionals worldwide, making it a powerful credential for finance professionals seeking international mobility and senior leadership positions such as Finance Manager, Financial Controller, FP&A Manager, and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
